Engine Oil  5W-30 Mobil 1 Advanced full synthetic 1 L.

1. Description / Technical Details

  • Mobil 1 5W-30 is an advanced full synthetic engine oil.
  • It uses Mobil’s “Triple Action Power” formula to deliver: Performance, Protection, and Cleanliness.
  • Performance: Helps reduce stress from daily wear.
  • Protection: Very good thermal and oxidation stability. Helps against oil breakdown.
  • Cleanliness: Designed with detergents to fight sludge and deposits.
  • Low-temperature capability: Good cold-start protection. According to spec sheet, it performs down to very low temps.
  • Viscosity index and pour point (from Autonemo spec):
    • Viscosity @ 40°C: ~64 mm²/s
    • Pour point: –45 °C.
  • Oil change interval: According to the Bangladesh seller (Oil House), it’s rated to protect for up to 10,000 miles (or ~1 year).
  • Specifications / Approvals:
    • Meets API SP, as well as older API SN / SN Plus.
    • Meets ILSAC GF-6A.
    • OEM builder approvals:
      • GM dexos1 (Gen 2) license.
      • Ford: WSS-M2C946-A / B1.
      • Chrysler: MS-6395 / MS-13340.
      • Honda / Acura: HTO-06.

2. Fitment / Suitable Vehicles

Mobil 1 5W-30 Advanced is pretty versatile and suitable for many modern gasoline (and some diesel) engines. Based on Mobil’s own documentation:

  • Passenger cars — sedans, coupes, etc.
  • SUVs and light trucks — as long as the manufacturer recommends 5W-30 or an equivalent grade.
  • High-performance / turbocharged engines — because of its strong thermal stability and protection.
  • Not recommended for 2-cycle or aviation engines (unless explicitly approved).

Important: Always check your vehicle’s owner’s manual for the manufacturer’s recommended viscosity, API / ILSAC specification, and service intervals. Even if Mobil 1 5W-30 is “good”, your engine may require something different.

3. Pros & Cons (Strengths and Considerations)

Pros:

  • Very good protection against wear, especially at high temperature.
  • Excellent cold start performance thanks to low pour point and good low-temp viscosity.
  • Helps keep the engine clean (resists sludge / deposits).
  • Fuel efficiency benefit: its frictional properties are relatively optimized.
  • Widely approved for many OEM specs → flexible for many car models.

Considerations:

  • The 10,000-mile (or 1-year) drain claim may or may not align with your driving style / conditions. If you drive very aggressively / hot / with short trips, you may want to change more frequently.
  • It’s a synthetic oil, so typically more expensive than conventional / semi-synthetic options.
  • If your car’s manual requires a different spec (e.g., a different API or OEM-specific service fill), then a different oil might be more appropriate.

4. Alternative Oils (Equivalent Options)

If you’re thinking of alternatives to Mobil 1 5W-30, here are some good ones with similar performance:

Here are some alternative 5W-30 full (or advanced) synthetic oils:

  • Castrol EDGE 5W-30 Advanced Full Synthetic — meets API SP / ILSAC GF-6.
  • Castrol EDGE Extended Performance 5W-30 — for longer drain intervals.
  • Xtra Rev 5W-30 Synthetic Blend (API SP / GF-6A) — slightly more budget-friendly but still good spec.
  • Fahrwunder 5W-30 Fully Synthetic — API SP, ILSAC GF-6.

When picking an alternative, make sure:

  1. The SAE grade (5W-30) matches your car’s requirement.
  2. The API / ILSAC spec is compatible (e.g., if your car needs API SP / GF-6, don’t pick an older oil that only meets SN).
  3. The oil is from a reliable brand / seller — to avoid counterfeits.
